What is a Hydrolat?
Most people know hydrolat as hydrosol or floral water 花水. However, Hydrolat comes from more than just the flowers of the plant – hydrolat can be from flowers, roots, bark, branches, wood, needles, leaves, fruits and seeds can all be used in producing hydrolat. Hydrolats are the condensed water produced during the steam or hydro-distillation of the plant material. It can be coproduced with the essential oil 精華油 but can also be produced on its own. Its properties can be very different to the essential oil produced with the same plant material though, which means, essential oil in water doesn’t make it the hydrolat / hydrosol.Hydrolats for your Skin in Winter
